What EXACTLY does AT&T need to activate the service in the vehicle? (and please don't speculate)
Im running SYNC 4A and found the ESN but there is no IMEI or SIM number and they are insisting they would need that and not the ESN. I am moving the already active service from my 2019 to this one and every time I call, no one seems to know what they are doing and its become incredibly frustrating since I use my truck as a mobile office and really need it to work.
I temporarily activated the 3Gig trial but don't expect that to last long.

Go to a ATT store, Not the athorized retailer but an actual ATT owned store. There should be at least one around your town. They will be able to get you up and running right there.
Ya calling into ATT you have to go thru 3 tiers of escalation before you get anywhere, and that takes hours and a lot of stress to get to.
The athorized retailer is no help at all either, had a manager there actually laugh at my mother trying to get help.
You will get the correct help at the ATT owned store, with a person in front of you. Not someone on the phone reading answers off the screen.

It is difficult to understand your post when you use numerous acronyms with your request.

It may help to spell out the acronyms, so people won’t speculate.

The acronym EXACTLY stands for the word “exactly.”
Sorry I had to say it.

The acronyms he has used are very common in the cell phone industry and standard when working with cellular providers. If anyone speculated on these acronyms and not familiar, I would be curious to know what anyone came up with.

Hello,

The IMEI number is stored in the TCU. You can access the TCU info through the Bezel Diagnostics feature. I found this video for a Mach E which should be the same (Sync 4a).

In the video you can see the TCU info, including the IMEI number, for the vehicle they were demoing on.

Also, from what I understand, ATT should be able to look it up using your VIN. When the vehicle was built and the TCU configured and activated, all the information for the cellular communication was uploading to a database that ATT has access to.

I can relate. I had an 2018 Platinum which I had an AT&T unlimited plan. When I got my 2022 Platinum, I wanted to move it to my AT&T account. It took a number of calls to AT&T, but I finally got to someone in their Connected Car group. All that they need from you is the VIN of your new vehicle, and that will give them any kind of electronic serial number and SIM card from your new vehicle. People outside their Connected Car Group are clueless, with one CSR setting the vehicle up as an iPad Mini!! One caveat was that I had to activate and go through the trial period before it merged into my existing account. Since I worked with the Connected Car Group, everything has worked flawlessly.

Thats Gents...

Pretty sure if I spelled out Electronic Serial Number and International Mobile Equipment Identity and Subscriber Identity Module then it would only cause MORE speculation.

Oh and yes EXACTLY actually means exactly... same goes for MORE.

I'll head to an American Telephone & Telegraph store soon.

Connected Car has their own toll free number: (866) 595-0191. When calling them it is helpful if you know the AT&T mobile number attached to your account (not your cellphone number).

Going into a COR (Company Owned Retail) store might result in problems as their reps are under intense pressure for new ads vs. a transfer of VIN. If they do that instead of a transfer there could possibly be an unintended consequence that might chew up a lot of your time taking care of in the back end. How do I know these things? I was an Authorized Retailer for them for 20 years. Our stores always got way higher Mystery shop scores. The main reason for this is the adversarial relationship the bargaining unit- Union- has with management.

Btw, how much do you pay per month for this?

I agree. Do not go to an ATT store, they will be clueless, and as Rossue said, they are there to sell you, not help you.

I have a family plan with ATT Wireless which includes 4 iPhone, along with the Unlimited Connected Car. I think the Connected Car unlimited data is $20.00/month. It is not part (or eligible) for shared data with the iPhones.
