I just replaced the main radiator on my 2008 Ford expedition and noticed this small plastic pipe (circled in blue) that is just hanging in free air. It is a small rigid pipe, it runs with another small rigid pipe and seems to go down to the front axle, I assume it's probably something to do with the 4WD engagement system (It probably carries a vacuum to engage the hubs, but this is only a guess). It is located on the passenger side of the car at the front of the engine just below the oil filler cap. Can anyone tells me what this should connect to? I can't imagine Ford just left it like that, so its probably something that broke or got accidentally disconnected when I changed the radiator. The pictures aren't great but hoping you can give me an idea of where it should go? I have looked and felt around for another line to connect to it, but cant find anything.

Thanks for looking and any suggestions.

Regards Gary

okay, I found an identical pipe on the drivers side, also coming from the IWE system, so it looks like both pipes are vents, this matches with many descriptions that I have read about the 4WD system. So not going to worry about it, seems normal.
