What's the rearmost point to tap some 40A power? Always-hot or delayed accessory or something...

It’s set up the way you described ... only works when you’re holding the switch (up or down)

    Good ol’ plain relay circuit

That’s great that the switches’ connectors are there. All you have to do is extend the wires and complete the circuit like the diagram shows.

Check the relay slot to see it’s pre-wired ... should see shiny terminals in the holes

BJB = Battery Junction Box (engine compartment Fuse Box)

Feeds the aux relay box with 12V constant

SJB = Smart Junction Box ( Passenger Side Kick Panel Fuse Box)

Feeds the aux relay box with 12V Acc

    Iirc, NOT REALLY

The SJB is supposed to cut power to it when in motion and when the liftgate is closed and in a bunch of other scenarios

Since I'm not sure which (if any) of those things are prewired for and I sure don't feel like paying to add em, I thought I'd just go with a more classical "hold button A to power switches B & C" safety measure.

But... I seem to need 40A power. Or do I? Will it blow the fuse if I try to run it off a splice to the ciggie socket? Or should I just refuse with 40A and that's that?

Heat/fire shouldn't be a concern with such short duration and infrequent use, and accidental engagement should be prevented by the additional "hold me to activate" button...

if you're going that route ...

    You'll find you're 12V constant in connector C410 pin 3, ...

splice in, add your 40A fuse inline. + your relay and replicate the wiring you see on the diagram minus the SJB.

Instead of a BJB & SJB feed. You're basically doing two BJB feeds
