I can't crawl completely under the truck so forgive the quality of these videos. If you squint a bit at the attached picture you can see the water droplets at the bottom of the reddish heat shield.

It's a 1999 XLT 5.4 with the rear A/C+heater option. I drove it for about 15 minutes to the store with a dry parking lot. After shopping for about 20 minutes, I saw a large puddle (2"x2") underneath but no active dripping. It drove home normally but had active dripping when I parked.

Neither the A/C nor heater was on.

The fluid is not hot enough to burn you but is hot enough to make you jump a bit when it drips on your hand. It doesn't smell and looks and feels like water. I can smell a faint odor of coolant but not near the leak and not from the fluid.

The coolant overflow bottle is still at the full level.

Any ideas about what is wrong? How is water coming from this point under the car?

Thanks in advance!

Brief recent background:
It started to overheat on long trips (+1 hour) on hot days with the A/C on. I guessed that it was the water pump or thermostat because those were the easy answers. I have no idea how old either of those parts are.

Due to life getting in the way, it was barely driven for several months. A few weeks ago the thermostat was replaced and coolant system refilled. I tried to replace the water pump but I just can't get the fan off of the old one.

It was driven for 1.5 hours one way this weekend, parked for three days, and driven back with no reported problems.

A year ago the rear heater core was replaced by an actual mechanic. It worked fine last winter but hasn't been used this winter.

Could be the water pump going bad.
Look at the water pump above the pulley there is a "weep Hole" it Leaks when the water pump seal is going bad.

If it is leaking there you will need a new water pump.

Clear water without odor would not be from the water pump/cooling system. Did you by any chance have it on defrost? Defrost would turn on the A/C compressor.

AC condensation. Clear, odorless liquid = AC condensation. Only other possibility is from the windshield fluid reservoir if you are using straight water in it.
