It has 295k miles and the previous owner couldn’t tell me what if anything had been replaced other than the 5.4 is new. I need brakes at the least. Wheel doesn’t have any play trying to rock it top & bottom and is quiet spinning jacked up, no weight. But I noticed the bearing doesn’t free spin, feels like when a bearing is too tight. I’m thinking replace everything but I’m poor. I only get $660 a month disability and that doesn’t cover food and utilities. Is there a company with an affordable kit with hubs, rotors, pads? Thanks.IMG_1430.jpeg

You generally get what you pay for. RockAuto has the best prices. Motorcraft brake pads will outlast five sets of $6 GoldenDragon ones, but will cost five times the price.

My advice for someone on a budget who cares a little about safety, is to at very least stick to name brands and you will usually have a serviceable car. If you just want cheap, Amazon has the very cheapest Chinese garbage your money can buy that can possibly be made to fit and work for awhile.

Just beware when using poor quality brake parts, expect to do the job again soon and carry real insurance.

So far as wheel bearings go, replacing them can be a bear of a job, especially at high mileage. I would only use name brand stuff because you really don't want to do that job again in this lifetime. Just make sure you really need a bearing before you embark down that road.

That's one really smart looking Expedition. I wish you two many happy miles together. Good parts will assure you of them.

I agree with razrback, Detroit Axle. Good quality and inexpensive. I just bought the four sets of pads and rotors via Amazon. Two very heavy boxes were delivered right to my door. I'm a Prime member, so shipping was free. ...I say, I think I needed brakes.
