Why does base HVAC have more connectors than digital climate control?

The other 2 connectors look interchangeable... but there's a 3rd one for the basic version???

Base XLT/SSV with the manual controls:

...is there a way to swap these things or not?

C228A (DATC) & C2357A (EMTC) are the same connector, ... Not sure, I didn't compare them side-by-side but might have to move a wires around.

C228B (DATC) & C2357B (EMTC) are the same connector, ... Not sure, I didn't compare them side-by-side but might have to move a wires around.

C2357C is the odd connector you inquired about.

Thx

So....what's the verdict, if I were to swap em, can I hotwire the dang thing?

And what would happen if I plugged in the unit as-is, with extra plug left off? Partial functionality? Big fat nothing?

I'm tempted to try

What do you think, same year range listed or cheaper later model?

PS funny thing is I really just wanted the non-silver-plastic bezel, but the XLT/SSV ac controls are a different shape...

Unfortunately it won’t give you dual zone auto climate control as they are different HVAC systems besides the control. Eddie Bauer, Limited, KR all have two blend doors for each side vs one for both on the XL and XLT.

The entire system is different, down to the heater box as J mentions above. A huge undertaking to get it to work I've been told. The system's computer controlled.

Ford also uses a different harness on the XLT tan it puts in the EB and Limiteds, so you'll have to deal with wiring differences as shown in TXFRD's wiring diagrams. Look at the pin connections! You have quite a job.

In my 13 Fusion I was able to convert my HVAC from manual to digital when I did my 4” to 8” Sync3 conversion
