Hey folks,
Just got done spending the week in the garage with my ’99 Expedition XLT RWD. Front end was feeling sloppy, so I finally tore into it. Swapped in new control arms (Metrix Premium this time) and man, that castle nut + pin setup is awesome!! feels way more secure than the cheap stuff. I’ve used Moog before too, and honestly these Metrix ones ride just as solid, plus not made in China. While I was at it, I did tie rod ends and bushings night and day, steering feels tighter now.
Also tackled brakes while I had the wheels off: new rotors and pads. Did plugs and wires too, and couldn’t resist tossing in a little stereo upgrade — factory unit was giving me headaches.
DIYwise, nothing crazy, just some rusty bolts to fight through (PB Blaster is your friend). A good breaker bar, patience, and a couple hours later it all came together.
Anyone else still working on these late-90s Expeditions? Always curious what other mods or upgrades people swear by especially on the suspension side.
