Here's a factoid to ponder. Today, I managed to get to "0 Miles To Empty" about 2 miles from the gas station I was heading to.

Then I filled up (had to run the pump twice...it only gave $75.00 on a single swipe)

So, from empty I was able to get 30.3 gallons into a 33.5 gallon tank. I didn't try to top off, so this represents the "auto-stop" on the pump. It appears that when you get to "0", you've really got about 50-60 miles left, if the 33.5 gallon capacity is correct.

Pretty common on any modern car.

I normally have about 2 gallons left on ours when it is at 0...

Ran my work truck 48 miles past the zero mark before... was a 2014 F150 5.0 it didn't stutter or hesitate even though it took 26.2 gallons to fill it up and it supposedly had a 26 gallon tank

God and I thought riding 150 hp motorcycles was living on the edge. What excitement do you guys get in possibly running out, and having a 18 wheeler barreling down on you. I used to freak out when my motorcycles hit reserve, I used to hit a gas station right away. I've pushed a lot of vehicles, in my time, and its not fun, especially when said vehicle weighs 5800 pounds. I know I'm old because I never run my Eddie Bauer below 1/4'tank, usually 1/2 tank!

At 0 miles if I fill up it’ll take 28 gallons. I went 60 miles past 0 a few weeks ago and it took 34. So I think I found the limit on my truck.

I’ve run mine into the zero miles to E territory and didn’t run out. I don’t wait long to find a gas station though.

From 1/8th of a tank, mine takes 27 gallons to fill it up, it has one hell of a reserve built into the gas gauge.

Good to know bobmbx,

Now go get ForScan and disable those annoying headlamp/foglamp indicators

I can’t tell you the last time I dropped below a 1/4 tank on any vehicle. Or even bothered looking at the miles to empty read out.
Especially with the Expedition being so big.
I try to keep a decent amount of fuel at the house in case of emergency. With 4 cars close to 100 gallons is nice to have at all times so I tend to keep them full on top of what I have in fuel cans.

So many of our members keep coming up with driveability issues and wonder why! Running a tank low on fuel is never a good thing. Factor in dirt/sediment/rust, you get the picture. Some people like living on the edge, I used to but then life kinda took that away, or was it the Wife. Wives never let you play with your friends!
