Nothing like sleeping on a problem to think of other causes...
I get up for my 3:30am pee, realize one area I overlooked was the fan clutch. You should have resistance when turning it by hand and should hear it engage and disengage with a running hot engine.

hahahahahahaha, Yes i do that 3-4 am got to go myself. Ok I am leaning towards evac and vacuming system and recharging. I have a few other projects to complete before I get to it. But it seems odd I am running around 55 LS and 265 HS, idle is 650, ambient is around 85-89, and it still has a small problem at a stop. I hate to be fussy, but I did change the fan clutch just for giggles, as that was my first thought. Thanks for replying. I will try and get to it this week. red423

How accurate are your gauges? A over charged system will act like a under charged system and not cool correctly. I know from personal experience on that. A bad low side guage had my pressure valve pop, about scared the pee out of me.

ok been a while

cabin filter on a 2003 eddie bower, where is it??? Pahleeease tell me I have googled it to death and still can't fine a proper illustration.
Back to the a/c issue, ok I got a clicking noise from the rear a/c last week. Me and my kid (she's 9) pulled the rear panel after ebay'ing a new air mix actuator, low and behold the last owner was so slick he has disconnected the other air switch too, ran to advance changed both actuators, I never knew the air could be changed from overhead to the floor in the rear, oh well age does this to a person.
Ok I thought the front issues had to be the notorious air mix actuator in the dash, boy were we right, I followed the advice here and went through the radio without pulling dash, advance and their switches for the front don't cross ref for 2003 EB,burned up two, before I went to ford and got the OEM (97 bucks).
I also found when it comes to set temp say 71F, it will start blasting heat out, so I have to set to 65, and adjust the fan manually, I have ordered a cabin sensor from Tasca, and will replace it this week. My pressures are 55ls and 235 HS with ambient at 94F. So now I notice the front air seems a little weak, where the heck is the cabin air filter????????????????????????

I am going to search for it but could use a few pointers here. thanks red423

P.S. I tell you what, my dad before he passed worked the line at ford back in the 60's, you can say what you want to, but I have always been partial to fords, especially their trucks. My uncle in Ohio owned a 36' which was a daily driver, and my dad had a 67 F100 as his when he passed. Yes, they have a few issues, and yes they can and do over engineer a lot of things, but when it is all said and done and she is running right, that's my baby, and I know my dad would be proud I own her. red423

This may help guide you:

High side pressure is a little low for the ambient temp. while the low could be a little high. You are close to the 3rd bullet in the chart.

If you have an IR Thermometer gun take a reading along the length of the accumulator at various spots while it is running.

Easiest thing would be to evac the system, add back the same amount of oil that is pulled out, load the system with the correct amount of r134. Check the pressures again.

To me the high side is to high, meaning not enough air going threw the condenser at idle. I also live in south florida. I like to see the high side between 200-225. Also the low side should be around 45psi. It the psi is to high with will cause your core temp to rise.

Thanks so much...........

Here's an update, my model from what I can see has no cabin filter, I did a search until my fingers bled and found a site in the UK which shows a hole being made behind the left side of the glove box centered in front of the a/c core and shooting coil clean into it, to back clean the evap coil........it worked, I have much better air flow from the front vents. Now its onto the 134 and the correct pressures. I have some time this am, I may just try it this morning.
I still can't get the smile off my face, as I was sitting at a red light yesterday with the ambient at 95F and I was getting cold air out of the front vents, that is a great improvement, compared to before. Now to get that condenser cleaned and the pressure set right..............thanks you guys..........red423
