In the beginning, I was happy with the stock bulbs that came with my Expo. The low beams usually "did the job" especially when used in conjunction with the fog lights. The high beams were good for night time driving.

One day, while browsing the local Advanced auto parts store, I saw they had a sale on the SilverStars. So I decided to buy both the high and low beam bulbs. After getting them installed at Goodyear (I couldnt get the driver side headlight off) I eagerly wanted to test the difference. But, considering all the street lights in Orlando, I couldnt really notice the difference.

Every so often, I come back to Chobee from Orlando to visit....and for mom's cookin' :D I usually prefer driving at night since there arent that many cars. It was during these trips that I can see the difference.

Okay, enough talk :)

There is definately a hint of blue to the light(Not ricer blue). The road signs seem to reflect back more light, so they do seem brighter.
But, as far as being able to "see" more/further, that is debatable. If anything, its slightly more than the already far-seeking stock bulbs.

Overall, Im happy with the bluer hint to the light, which IMHO is more appeasing to the eye at night. To some people, spending 60 bucks for a bluer tint in the light may not be worth it, but I like it. Basically, if you are happy with the illumination range of the stock 2003 bulbs/headlight, then dont change them. But if you're looking for a more HID look, slightly brighter lights, and you have some cash to burn, then getting these bulbs is a pretty good choice :)
I give them a 8/10

*Next step, getting fog lights that match the bluer look of the bulbs:cool: *

Your Lights

Hey:

on my 05x and 03 Sportrac I adjusted the lights up (Clockwise)about 1 full turn and it makes a world of diff. You might want to do 1/4 turn at a time because of the increased intensity and go to somewhere dark to check it out.

It won't blind oncoming drivers if done right.

Yea, before got the SilverStars, I had slightly tilted the passenger headlight up, and you could see more. :) I basically got the SilverStars cuz I wanted the "HID" look :) I might try further adjusting my headlights now a tad bit and see if I can see farther down the road :)

As I side note, I love the stock fog lights. You could basically use them as headlight by themselves :) Props on Ford :)

I also installed the Silverstars on the low and high beam. Much better than the stock bulbs, however the foglights just looked out of place in comparison. Had to do a little searching, but got the Silverstar 3145ST's for the fog logs. Now it the fogs match up with the low beams!

Nice, did you upgrade the fog lights too? I'm not ready to go with HID's yet, so the SilverStars are good for now. But with DRL's the fog lights look out of place (or just plain wrong) with the pale yellow in combination with the Silverstar headlights. So, it became "necessary" :D to change to fogs to the Silverstar bulbs (3145ST).

The Silverstar fog light bulbs for the 2003 Expedition are the Sylvania 9145ST. They are not the 3145ST as stated above.

You can find them listed at Sylvania's web site.
