Intake mods?

Has anyone just modified the stock air canister for better intake. Like chopping the end off the canister?

Like the Gotts mod for the F150s? You just gotta be careful with the 3V 5.4s since they have a tendancy to run lean with any intake mods...

it's not worth it, you might want to sell the vehical some day and you might not find a buyer who wants a hacked up air intake. At least with the aftermarket you can return to stock, thats the way I see it. Plus you can find pretty good deals on ebay.

Well I chopped it. Not to worried about selling it and if for some reason I did or needed a new stock intake I have a pick and pull junk yard about 10 miles from me. I chopped it about a inch away from the buckel and more on the bottom to keep the mounting pins or whathave you on the bottom. Made a noticeable differance off the line. And since my muffler fell apart over the past few months so I hacked that off and straight piped it. Surprisingly it is no where near as loud as I thought it would be but it has the tone I was looking for. Later this summer I will play around with putting on a good old Cherrybomb and see how that sounds.
