Ford reported a 4th qtr loss in 2019 of $1.7B and of course a decline in sales. They are giving the EPA what they want but they are not giving the buying public what they want. I have been waiting on a 5.0L Expedition since 2012 with no turbos and no variable cylinder management (reliability)...
tourbo's might be great for power and meeting EPA metrics. Can't every see how they would be great for reliability. I am a retired engr and I raced cars for almost decade. Don't won't tourbo's on my passenger car. Lot of heat and pressure. Not good for reliability. Not a fan of the EPA...
There is a reason that Ford lost $1.7B in 4th Qtr. Quality is suffering. Both design and parts quality. I wonder if a lot of OEM parts aren't coming out of China. I bet the Japanese and Koreans don't use many Chinese parts.
I am planning on replacing my 2008 Expedition (35K miles) with a Toyota Highlander or a Honda Pilot. ABS just went out going down the road. little to no brakes. We put in dual master cylinders in the late 60s to avoid this. Now Ford, the EPA, and the Gov have brought back total brake failure...
My mechanic has replaced my ABS module and it failed before I got home. Pedal to floor.
He tried several from LkQ before he got one that he liked. He said he drove it several times over 2 days and it tested Ok. Worked fine for a while in then failed few miles driving. What's up?? 2008 EB...
Sounds like Ford and Ecoboost these days. Should have put a good 5.0L in the expeditions when they changed from the 5.4L. I will never buy and Ecoboost. I wanted to trade my 2008 Expedition in 2012 but I waited for 5.0L offering. Decided to buy a non Ford for the first time.
I am 67 yrs old and have never owned anything but Fords. My next vehicle will probably be a Honda Pilot. Fewer Chinese parts and less Wall Street control. Still have EPA hacks however perverting the whole automotive world. Our political representatives seemed to be AWOL on all of this. They...
Haven't seen anything that I want to buy yet. Been looking since 2012 to replace my 2008 Expedition. First time that I have considered buying non Ford. They know the consumers want a normally aspirated V8 and don't want the engine dying at the stop sign. I also have a 2012 F150. They had...
The normally aspirated V8s have great reliability numbers and history. That does not seem to be the case for these increasingly smaller v6s with multiple turbos. This is all about goofy CAFE standards, not about reliability and consumer value. We went through a learning curve in the 1980s...
FisherPete - your thoughts align with mine. I am suspicious of reliability especially. The vacuum pump out in the front of the vehicle seemed to be poor engineering as well. If I could get a good normally aspirated V8, I would by a new 17.
My friend has a 2003 4.6L expedition with 190K miles. Runs good and drives good. Its spins more times than normal before starting although it always starts and runs fine. She now engages the starter about 2 to 3 short spins and it always starts. No OBD II codes set and runs good under...
