    Tires for Towing Travel Trailer

Thanks, Jason, for that informative post. I'm going to save the charts. I don't need off-road, just highway all-season. My current General Grabbers are OK–no problems—but I'm leaning toward Michelin Defender LTXs. They don't have the 3-peak snow symbol, but are reputed to do very well on...

    Tires for Towing Travel Trailer

I notice that many tires do not carry alphabet load ratings (C,D,E), but codes SL or XL, and/or numbers before the speed-rating code. E.g. my Generals are '116T', and say 'Standard Load' (rather than 'SL'). But I see that Tire Rack shows the Michelin Defenders as also load-rated at 116, but...

    Tires for Towing Travel Trailer

2013 Expy EL XLT (5.4L, 6-spd auto, 4WD, factory-towing pkg). General Grabber HTS 60 (275/65R/18) tires have only 37K on them, but are 6 yrs old and tread is getting low, so I am thinking of getting new all-seasons for winter. Outside of winter, we sometimes travel with a modest-weight...

2013 F-150 Slide on mirrors fit 2013 Expedition?

The eTrailer link says they won't fit a 2013 Expedition (which I have). I bought a set of Milenco clamp ons, but they don't add much beyond the factory mirrors.

    Anyone recommend decent tow mirrors?

I need tow mirrors for my 2013 XL. Does Ford make any? Came with HD tow package, but no extra mirrors. Escape 21 trailer is not super wide, but I'd like a better view for lanes and backing up. One respondent on the Escape Owners Forum recommends Milenco Grand Aeros that clamp on—would these...

Rear Shock Recommendations for 2013 Expedition?

Mileage is currently only 84k. Tires are General Grabbers, "standard load" (doesn't say C or D). Tires say max air is 44 lbs, but Ford sticker says 35. Been running 36; OK to run higher? No idea where I can find scales around here where I can spend time making various weight measurements...

Rear Shock Recommendations for 2013 Expedition?

Did about 3,000 miles of towing our newly-acquired lightweight travel trailer (a 2019 molded-fiberglass Escape 21) recently, using a Fastway E2 weight-distributing hitch. Trailer tows well, no sway at all, but there's a noticeable amount of rear pitching, which I suspect better rear shocks...

How Do You Attach S-hook Straps to Roof Rack?

Thanks, Tuck! Just saw your response (didn't get a notice). I didn't know about those soft tie-down straps, but they should do the job just fine. Thanks again! /LEJ

Roof rack for 2016 Expedition EL SSV

When we purchased our 2013 Expy, used in 2014, I had the dealer install a sun-roof (I wanted a convertible, but this was the best I could do). It was way forward of the factory roof-rack. My guess, FWIW, is that the racks are all the same. /LEJ

How Do You Attach S-hook Straps to Roof Rack?

We carry a canoe on our 2013 Expy. In the past I've used various ropes and straps. But I'd like to use ratchet straps. Problem is, they've all got S-hooks that won't fit around the big side bars of the roof OEM rack. I can just wrap the straps around the bars and the S-hook around the strap...

    Power Window Issue

That's a great tutorial! Does anyone know if it will apply to my 2013 Expy, driver's side? I think I may need to replace the regulator. Of course, nothing but snow and rain predicted for the next few days, and cold. Expy is too big for my garage. May have to leave the window up until May . . .

    Middle Seat Headrests--When?

aporthole, thanks for your informed report. Our 2013 Expedition also lacks child-seat brackets in the rear row, which is very annoying when we have to fit in seats for our son's family (five kids ages 1-9). Do you know whether the Toyota Sequoias have head rests on all seats in all 3 rows...

Has buying a car really changed???

We lucked out in 2014. I was just looking for Suburban-sized truck, but there weren't any used Chevy/GMs around, when I found this handsome dark-green long 2013 Expedition at our local Ford dealer. Turns out it was a fleet (rental) vehicle from CA, with 33k on it. We paid $35k. I had a sun...

    Middle Seat Headrests--When?

Actually, it looks like the 2018 head-humps aren't extendable, either, though from the photos on the Ford website it looks like they might be. Oh well. /Mr Lynn
