It sounds like the window regulator. Your cheapest bet would be a junk yard. I'm pretty sure Ford will want to sell it as a whole assembly (motor + regulator).
Swap the suspect coil with another, clear the codes, and see if the problem follows the coil. That will at least isolate that issue. How does the spark plug look on 2?
Dave - check and make sure there isn't any air in the system and your fluid level is good. Pop the cap off the reservoir and have somebody else take it from full lock to full lock a couple of times. Shine a flashlight into the reservoir and look for air bubbles.
I've had the same issues with all kinds of different vehicles. A drain and fill usually takes care of it. Also, the Lucas power steering conditioner is fantastic stuff. I added a few ounces to the wife's Honda, and 40k later its still purring right along.
Engine noises should vary with RPM. Did you check your oil level? If you don't have a mechanic's stethoscope, you can use a ~ 3' piece of garden hose. Does it do it all the time, or only when parked/at a stop?
Where in GA are you? I would give the guys at PHP a shot before anyone else. They will provide you with the best info, and can even dyno tune for you.

It lasts a long time too. I used it to remove wax residue from the textured, unpainted mirrors on my Excursion. No idea how long it had been there (P.O. did a crap detailing job at one point), but it worked great.
Pledge or Endust both work well - yes, the same stuff you use on your furniture. It cleans it much better than ArmorAll, and lasts longer too. It also works wonder to remove/cover any wax residue on textured plastics. A nice gloss w/o being too slippery.
