Accessory mode on even with ignition in locked position and key removed.

Update: Did some more research and the learned that water leaking from the windshield could get into the GEM and cause problems. Checked my truck and didn't find any evidence of water intrusion. Another day went by and when I checked the truck, the accessories were off and operations had...

Accessory mode on even with ignition in locked position and key removed.

2000 Eddie Bauer Expy, 5.4l 4x4 with 153,000 miles. I've owned this truck since 2015 and it has always had a parasitic electrical draw that will drain the battery if the truck sits for more than 3 weeks. I work out of town on a rotational schedule so the Expy does sit for 3-4 weeks at a time...

Side rear view mirror mounting compatibility between 2000 and 2003 Expys

Wondering if the side view mirrors mounts are the same between a 2000 Expy and 2003 Expy. I bought Trail Ridge towing mirrors for my 2000 picking the ones that had the same options as my OEM mirrors. However I forgot I also have memory mirrors and there is no Trail Ridge option for that on the...

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

Thanks. I didn't plan to do a write up originally which is why I didn't get better pictures. Hopefully this will help someone else. So far I'm very happy with results.

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

Hopefully this is a working link to the first cold start after installing the Accutach oil pressure unit. First start

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

I read somewhere the 5.4L has high oil pressure. i installed a 100psi sender and wow, the gauge shoots right up on cold start. I have a short video but it's late and I don't know how to link or upload right now. Here's a couple pics after the Expy was warmed up. First pic is hot idle, 2nd pic...

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

Next is splicing into the harness. At this stage of installation the Accutach installation instructions become a bit vague. Took me a few minutes to figure out the wires I would need to spice into were all on the white connector. The instructions indicated power at start/run could be found on...

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

The female connectors for the oil pressure gauge get bent back to break the OEM connection to the gauge and the pin holes need to be enlarged. I used a Dremel bit. This process doesn't ruin anything and the gauge could be returned to stock if needed. i didn't get a picture of wiring the...

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

Next was the electrical bit. It's been a while since I had the cluster out for the odometer repair so I had to watch a You Tube to remember how everything comes apart. The plastic housing has to come off and the circuit board separated from the cluster. After the ribbon cable is carefully...

    Accutach Oil pressure gauge install

Intermittently my OEM gauge won't show a pressure indication on cold start. First time it happened I freaked out a bit but quickly discovered the issue was electrical and not mechanical. I didn't want an aftermarket gauge but I did want a fully functional oil pressure gauge. On my 1993 F-350...

Intermittent no crank when very cold. Good battery

Yesterday I discovered I can get the starter to engage if I keep bumping the relay with a screwdriver. Takes a dozen or so bumps but once the starter spins, its good for the rest of the day.

Intermittent no crank when very cold. Good battery

Thanks! I was wondering about that. The price difference between the O'Reillys house brands and the Motorcraft is significant but I'll pay the extra $$$ to avoid having to do the job twice.

Intermittent no crank when very cold. Good battery

little troubleshooting. Found the positive terminal was cracked, it looked tight but wasn't. Installed a universal terminal until I can order a terminal crimping tool and fix this correctly. However that did not solve the no start condition. Using a screwdriver I jumped the lugs on the starter...
