Wife has lost only key.My question is besides taking to dealer to have a new key programmed,or calling a locksmith.I have seen the bypass kits, but was wondering if one would work without having to have the programmed key.

Unfortunately (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) you will have to go to the dealer or locksmith. Was it your only key? If so the dealer might be the least hassle as they see it alot. If you have extras the locksmith (depending on his/her "keeping up with the times") can probably do it for you.

Question...Is the key the locksmith made programed? Get some spare keys off ebay and program them yourself. Its easy takes a couple minutes to do. And will save you time money and a grand headeache.

Go to Ebay and type in ford expedition transponder key. It will pull them up. They usually come with the instructions to program them. It wasnt that hard to do. I cant remember what I did right off hand now because it was 5 years ago when I did mine but the process is simple. You MUST have atleast 1 key that is already programmed tho. If you dont have any programmed keys then you must go to the stealership. Let me know if this helps.

Just to let everybody know the key code is on the side of the ignition. If you turn the steering all the way to the left. With a good flash light and a magnifying glass you don't even need to take anything apart you can see the key code. Got my replacement keys today. If you don't get key code you must go to Locksmith and ask him to make new key.

No you can get one from Walmart programmed using your existing key for 50 or 60 bux. Once you have one key you are good to go. Plus, why bypass security on the truck.
