I have the tow prep package which includes the 4 pin and has the blue wire (electric brakes) run back to the 4 pin connector (capped).
Do not follow the steps in various YouTube videos which tell you to take apart your dash and pull your radio to find the brake harness. Completely unnecessary.IMG_3851.JPGIMG_3853.JPGIMG_3855.PNG
1. Remove the cover below the steering wheel using 9/32 bit. Pull the top out of the snap connections and back out the screws.
2. Remove the metal cover using 5/16 bit. Lift up and rotate 90 degrees to rest on the floor. No need to disconnect anything.
3. Remove the bottom cover to the steering wheel using a 5.5 MM bit. This will give you room for your hand to reach up behind the dash to squeeze the gray connector.
I attached the Prodigy P3 harness and used zip ties to keep the wires up out of the way. I routed it over to the left side. I'm going to use Velcro on the Prodigy instead of the knee smashing bracket.
The pictures are in reverse order. The plug is behind the pocket I circled in red.

I like the boost feature of the Prodigy. Someday I may switch to the Ford controller that slides right in but for now...

I know I'm digging up a fossilized thread here, but my 2016 doesn't have a controller and I'm trying to find either a stock or aftermarket controller that will fit into the stock location. I bought a controller on Amazon before I researched enough and it turned out to be slightly trapezoidal in shape and barely does not fit in the pocket (For a F-X50 instead). The part number I found now is FL1Z-2C006-(A through D). I'd rather not spend $250, as it seems there are quite a few options for non-factory controllers at half of that, and I'm not hauling a trailer more than a few times a year for short trips.

Which controllers are people using now that they like?
