    1997 Rear Shock Issue

My camera turned them 90 degrees but it's between the gas tank and frame. It was definately a welded piece. I'm guessing it won't be worth reading welding. Didn't know if the made a bolt on replacement or if this was even a common break.

    1997 Rear Shock Issue

Driving to work today I notice that there was a loud thud as i hit bumps on the highway. At first i thought maybe the third row seat wasn't properly seated in the locks, but it wasn't that. Anyway, when i pulled off the highway, i was still hearing it. When i pulled over and climbed...

    Trailing arm hardware issues

Well look like I'll have to plan a fun weekend real soon before the New England weather gets too cold. Ford said they would do it using my parts. Anyone have experience with that?

    Trailing arm hardware issues

Hey all, Ive searched high and low for this answer but haven't seen anything. I know I'll need to cut out the old bolts most likely, but as far as new hardware, the set i bought (Vollig) came with it. However, the hardware (bolts) were larger than the existing bracket holes. I then went and...

    Suspension Help

So after debating what i wanted to do, i've decided to keep expedition at stock hight rather than replace the torsion keys. I did have one question, I like the idea of a coil wrapped shock, which monroe has rears available and i had a set on my 2000 mountaineer. I noticed they have them...

    Wheel Bearings

So about two weeks or so back I started hearing a humming noise in the front end that sounded like wheel bearings. Would get louder when going faster, and stop when I stopped, and get quieter when i turned. Dealing with this issue before, I am very familiar with the sound. I ordered the parts...

    Bilstein 5100 Series

So I am looking to do the suspension this spring when the weather gets a little warmer and am looking for something to put in the front end to level out the ride. For the rear I was going to use Monroe's coil wrapped sensatracks, but was wondering what people used on the front to level it out...

    U-joint replacement HELP!!!

Sorry guys for the late response, but it was the Double cardan cv joint bearing for the self centering yoke. Regardless it was a PITA to first locate the part last minute ($50). Ford would only sell us a whole drive shaft (not in stock). Found the bearing at napa. Mind you it's pressed so we had...

    U-joint replacement HELP!!!

Doing the u joints on the rear drive shaft and came across an interesting part at the yoke. It's like some sort bearing between the drive shaft and yoke. Anyone know what that is? I can't find anything online about it.

    1st Gen 4WD concerns?

I think it might have actually been one of the u joints. Had it on the highway last night and it eventually went away. Sounds like it's the one that connects the drive shaft to the transmission. I'm going to double check the spring clips as well just to make sure it's not those.

    1st Gen 4WD concerns?

So new issue, now it sounds as if it's making a scraping noise in the front end regardless of the 4wd being engaged or not. This just recently happened about 20 minutes ago. Not sure if something loosened in the brakes that I just replaced, but it also only makes that noise when moving forward...

    1st Gen 4WD concerns?

I had it in 4WD not AW4D. I used it again this morning and it didn't go back and forth in between. I'm hoping it is just something simple like the switch. I just don't want to pay the money to have ford tell me it's something simple like that.

    1st Gen 4WD concerns?

New to the forum here but great to see the enthusiasm about the Expeditions! Anyway, I purchased back in October a 1997 with 99K on it and love it. However, being in New England we had our first snow storm this past weekend and noticed that when I shifted into 4WD last night to get into my...
