    Cabin Air Filter

There is no cabin air filter. There is a place for it under the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle but there is no filter. I know there is a listing for one but they never installed them at Ford!

New Expedition Owner have one important question

AKTHOR, This has been discussed in another Forum in great detail. THe name of the Forum Is Ford truck Enthusiast. Check it out.... they have alot of good people in there to help people out. I believe there is a kit available from Ford to fix the hoses. I personally don't have and haven't had the...

New Expedition Owner have one important question

AKTHOR THe # 8 coil pack faiure is a common problem. There is a hose for the heater core right over the #8 coil that drips coolant onto the coil and causes failure. There is a TSB on this issue and they know about it. I believe that there is a kit that will fix this problem also. As for...

    need help with alternator problem

I had the same exact problem. I went through 2 alternators in the same day! I found that they put too much di-electric grease in the connector at the alternator and it wasn't making a good connection. I cleaned some out with a cotton swab before I plugged it in and then wiggled it in place to...

New Expedition Owner have one important question

Correct me if I'm wrong but I have several Fords in my family..... 3 expeditions, 2 F-150's, 2 Explorers, A 250, a ranger, and a Taurus. I know Ford well. There aren't coil packs in the Triton 4.6. There are 2 coils mounted on the front of the engine... one on the driver side and one on the...

    Life of an Expy

I have right at 170,000 on my 97. It has been maintained meticulously for the entire time. This includes tranny, oil, air,and coolant, and belts/hoses. Not one single problem to date. The only thing mechanically I have had to do is an alternator replacement. Still runs and looks brand new!

    Child Safety Locks.....

Pull your erasers out and spray them. This is the easiest repair I have ever seen and the child lock feature is still functional like it should be.

    Hypertech Chips!

I currently have over 165,000 miles on mine. Haven't had any problems what-so-ever!

    Child Safety Locks.....

I have a solution that works for the child locks. It doesn't involve any wires or tie wraps. Open your rear doors, the trim around the child lock lever is removeable. Gently pry it off and spray the mechanisim liberally with WD-40 or PB blaster or any other type of lubricant. Work the interior...

    Hypertech Chips!

I have been told be some that Ford cannot retrieve the engine codes with the chip in place. If I was gonna buy one new I would get a programmer. If you had to go to the dealer you could always just plug it back in and return to stock tuning. I did the install my self and it was a snap. I had...

    1997 - Oxygen sensor

All I can tell you is good luck! I changed both of mine. They were upstream sensors. The drivers side is easy! 15 min and it was done. The passenger side is a different story! Make sure the truck has been sitting overnight. THe hardest part of the passenger side is getting the old sensor...

E B Expy 99, 5.4 Tri, Slight miss in motor

That could be your problem. I have heard alot of horror stories about Bosch plugs in these rigs. Everyone I talked to has recommended Motorcraft OE plugs. If they were good enought for 100,000 miles before they will be good replacements. I have Bosch II in mi EX and I have experienced a slight...

    1997 Expedition Steering/suspension

Thanks Paul I didn't think I was losing my mind. And you're absolutely correct... cold tire pressure has nothing to do with weather! LMAO!

MPG post for you smart people

Gee It seems I just had this conversation the other day..... and I proved my point in a real time situation. I'll try to explain this as easy as possible. If you have a volkswagon with a v6 and the same volkswagon with a 4 cyl, which one is gonna get better mileage?......... I know, it's the 4...

    1997 Expedition Steering/suspension

Go look at your label again. I can assure you that it is 30 psi front and 35 psi rear. This has been discussed in great depths in the FTE and FTW forums. All tire pressures should be checked when tires are cold.... this means that you will not get an accurate reading of tire pressure after going...

    4x4 non-engaging problem

97 and 98 are identical. I would put $$$$ on the shift motor. If you can't hear it engage, then it is not turning. Check your fuses first then try the motor. I have seen sucessfull repairs to the motors. You need to pull it apart and clean the brush contacts. They have a tendancy to corrode from...

lOOSING LITTLE OIL BUT HAS NO LEAKS AND SMELLS LIKE BURING OIL??

Is it still under warranty? If it is then you might have a chance to get it fixed. Ford knows about the problem. I have seen fixes that worked... (that is new gaskets) then I have seen many times that they don't! I have heard of dealers replacing the entire engine then I have also heard of them...

    1997 Expedition Steering/suspension

Hello vincent..... I am assuming that you are saying that the Expedition is very jittery on the highway. Now this is gonna sound like a stupid question but here it goes..... Check your front tire pressure. Is it 35 PSI? If it is open your drivers door and look on the sticker. You will see that...

Hey texas.... is it 2 WD or 4WD? this is gonna make a huge difference! Of course gearing plays a big part in this equasion! Now take your Epedition and place a 2500Lb trailer behind it. Then let us know how your MPG does. Then after you get over the shock of those #'s let me know how you did...

    Hypertech Chips!

For all of you that are looking to improve performance and fuel economy here ya go! I just installed a Hypertech chip in my 97 EB. This thing is awesome! It has been in for 4 days. So far I have driven the truck harder than usual and have gotten 2.3 MPG more than if I was driving like an old...

    20+ HP for $2

Don't waste your $$$$$$$$$! All this little resistor does is fool the computer into thinking the air temp is cooler than it actually is. This creates a rich fuel mixture and will in fact give you more horsepower, but at the same time it will dramatically decrease your fuel mileage! If you want a...

    tailgate

I have a 97 EB. It does have the battery minder on it but it takes over 20 min to work. I cut a switch into mine. It looks factory and was easy to do. The wiring harness is located in the drivers side rear under the rearmost pillar. There isa white wire with a purple stripe on it. I cut mine and...

    Interior lights

For all of you that would like to turn off your lights with the gate open I have your fix! I cut a switch into my lighting circut. I mounted it in the rear pillar just below the third row seatbelt anchor. It looks completely factory! Just pull off the rear panel and get a rocker switch. cut it...

    4x4 non-engaging problem

There is a known switch problem with the Expeditions. You can pull it apart and clean it out really well then relube it with some di-electric grease and reassemble it. It could also be a bad shift motor. Does it go into 4 HI or 4LO? If so, it is not the shift motor. It could also be the hall...
