Have 2003 5.4 XLT: Something got stuck under the seat while moving the driver seat positions, blew the fuse and exposed the wiring a little. Patched up the wire and changed the fuse and the seat has worked without issue but pretensioner error code has been on since.

Has this somehow damaged the pretensioner, or could this be a different more simple issue? I checked the connections to the pretensioner, unplugged and put everything back together.

Any guides out there for replacing the pretensioner myself and how safe is it to drive? Will my bags still go off in an accident?

Many thanks

What is the 'exact' error code, I will check my manuals (books & Digital) to try to help you out.

Air bags will not deploy while warning light is on.
You may try to reset:

Thanks I will try this.

Does on in this scenario mean engine on, or just my electrics on?

Also my light seems to illuminate for more like 5 seconds, then begin to flash code; do I switch off then, before the code flashes?

Sorry Sean, haven't been watching this for a couple of days.

Immediately when it stops flashing.

Since I have not had to perform this, you may have to follow this:

Has anyone been messing with the driver's seat or seat belt buckle ? Code 33 is a problem with the driver's buckle assembly or wiring harness to the buckle. You can try some electrical contact cleaner in the buckle and it's plug, but generally speaking you have to replace the buckle assembly. When you have the seat out, be careful not to drop it on the garage floor, the pretensioners don't like that.
