binding front drive

1st time...today
backing up, wheels turned hard left, felt like it was binding or dragging. felt like the front.
Any ideas. shifts fine. turned off the truck started back up, drove forward in a tight circle with wheels turned hard left, hard right. Backed up wheels turned hard left, felt ok.

Help???

I'm having similar issues on a 2000 Expedition XLT, 5.4, AWD, 230,000.

In your post you said turned left binding, turned left OK. Did you mean turned right OK? If it was me I'd crawl under it check your C/V shafts for play/ binding. Another thing to check be sure you have no loose bolts/nuts on any steering/suspension parts. A loose nut or bolt can be hitting when you turn wheel. I'd do a total front end inspection, either by you if capable, or by a shop, if not. Report your findings, and what it took to fix.
