DW's 2013 King Ranch with 55,000 miles has recently developed squealing rear brakes when backing up. I'm assuming it is time for a new pads. However, I would welcome opinions as to turning drums, what type of pads, et cetera?

Best pads that I know of are the ceramic type. Don’t fall for the old “lifetime” pad deals. The pads wear out quickly and yes, they will give you new pads but who wants to change pads every year? Stick with the ceramics and you’ll be glad you did.

Also, if the rotors are warped you would fill the brake pedal pulsating up and down as you use the brakes. They should be fine at 55K. You can also use a straight edge to tell if they may be warped. Good luck!!
