Hi Bruce,

I just picked up a 2006 King Ranch. The audio unit has no display. It all seems to work but I can't see what station it's on and it's an outdated system. I've watched some videos where owners take the unit completely apart and resolder the display's connections to the circuit board. While I've have all the tools needed for this type of repair I figure I'd still be left with an outdated system.

I've been searching for something that would give me audio, navigation and a rear view camera. I've read several threads that seem to hold Crutchfield.com in pretty high esteem. I contacted them and was referred to the Boss 965 BLC. According to their customer service rep, who was very helpful, the unit will fit the Expedition and still utilize the steering wheel controls. It comes with a back up camera that can either be a stand alone unit or one incorporated into the license plate frame.

Have you heard anything about this system or could you recommend a similarly priced system that would work? I'm looking more for the convenience of the GPS and back up camera rather that some blow the doors off sound system. I am keeping the stock speakers so spending $500+ to get a high end audio system is not my goal.

Thank you for any help you can supply,
Joe

I would stay clear from Boss products. Pioneer, Kenwood, and Alpine have always been the most popular and reliable head units. I'd pick from one of those instead.

Hi Hush,

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll keep looking. Right now the only ones I'm finding of those brands are almost $1,000. As I said I'm just not that much of an audiophile to spend that much on a car stereo for a car I'm only going to be in maybe once or twice a week.
