Debating on trading 02 2wd to a 4x4

So my father doesn’t drive anymore so he gave me his 02 2WD XLT. I took it to a local mountain and couldn’t get to the top the peak. Granted it was my first time and I didn’t air down my tires but it gave me 4x4 envy.

Debating on selling it and getting a 4x4. It only has 86k miles. I got some bigger used tires for it (265x75x16) just to check clearance prior to dropping money on good tires and I like the look. (I went up on the mountain after I got the AT tires) Haven’t don’t anything else mechanical. Added tint to the windows and a new stereo with back up camera for the wife.

What are you guys thoughts? Should I keep it or look for a 4x4. There’s not a lot of upgrade support out there for this platform. It’s Purely a weekend ride. No deferred maintenance, my dad was meticulous with keeping everything up to date. Want to go camping and off roading at least once a month with my family. Just wanting opinions.

To be honest if you wanted a weekend off reader an Expedition isn't it. You won't be able to find a truck with a good maintnence background you know of, and however much it's worth isn't going to get you enough.

Decided to sell. I put 265/75/16s on it and tinted the windows and upgraded the head unit. New battery, flushed the transmission, changed the oil and all the other fluids.

What do you think I should sell it for? All maintenance done, 87k mikes, 2002 2wd, pull strong, very clean inside, 9 seater, fabric seats. No rust…just upgrading to 4wd.
