Donor transmission from a 2wd Expy compatibility

My friend has a 2018 that’s in need of a new 10R80. His is a 4wd. He found a good donor one from a 2wd. Is this transmission identical or will not mount to his transfer case etc?

My only suggestion would be to use one of the Ford dealer online parts catalogs (or use Ford online parts) and see if the transmission used the same part number for the 4WD and the 2WD vehicles.

You could enter the VIN for the 4WD vehicle, then do a search for a 2WD vehicle without the VIN.

They are different part numbers for 2 and 4wd. They both have different tail housings so the transfer case won’t swap over to the 2wd unit.
