First off, forgive me if this seems like a dumb question or if this has been covered in another thread. I'm trying to figure out what gives you the best bang for your buck.
So, looking on the 5 star tuning website I see that I can get an SCT e-mail tune which will take into account any modifications I have on my expedition for about $105 (or two tunes for about $160 and so on and so on). I called a local performance shop (licensed to do SCT tunes) and asked what they charge for a custom tune and was told about $400. However, I know the local shop would run the truck on a dyno to aid in tuning. In addition, some cursory research showed that $400 for a custom tune is a fairly common price to pay.
Taking all that into consideration, which is better. Is a tune done with the truck on a dyno worth the extra money? or will an e-mail tune get the same results or close to the same?
