I'm pretty sure Stamp meant to buy the 2008 one. Which is what I'd do also.
There's a 15,000 dollar price difference. For those talking about nickel and diming, there's a lot of room there for maintenance and repairs.

Your perspective tends to change once you've been there. In the last 8 months, I've spent about $1,500 in repairs on a truck worth less than $3K. For the last 3 years, it has had no A/C and perpetual heat - problems which my mechanic, who is an A/C specialist, has been unable to pinpoint (short of disassembling the dash at an expense I'm not willing to swallow). One of the exterior door handles broke and I'm not about to spend an entire afternoon replacing it, especially when I strongly suspect the other door handles aren't far behind. In the last 8 months it has also needed a tow 3 times. The last time it crapped out on me I was hiking up in the mountains with my wife and 4 dogs. It took over 5 hours for the tow truck to get there. My wife and I missed half a shift of work the following day as we didn't get home until nearly 1AM. Now I fixed every mechanical issue that cropped up and I have no doubt that the truck will go for another 100K miles, but I simply got tired of losing time and money because of it and I especially got tired of being stranded.

You've made my point. $1500 in repairs got your vehicle to where it's reliable transportation. And that's on an apparently much older and poorly maintained vehicle.

Well, went a totally different way... The white one looked great in pics, but must have been underwater in the last flood we had up here... paint was bubbling on the lift gate, looked like crap underneath , and in the engine bay... It was from a Mitsubishi dealer ...so......went to the Ford dealership........ we bought this instead !!!!!

It's a beauty..... tons of room inside.. Couldn't believe how roomy these things are inside... room for the 3 kids, and the dog on the floor..... 2010, 35,000 miles... mint condition... $23,000 cdn.... That's considered a steal up here :) Push Bar, Bed cover, Brand new All terrains, Level kit ( I think) It has 285's, and there's plenty of room under there, so at least 2 inches I think.... Love it.. Bring it home on Monday..

I've actually maintained my vehicle very well, else it wouldn't have made it 15 years and 235K miles. Nonetheless, with age and all that usage comes inevitable problems. Sure, I could keep driving it and repairing every little problem that arises and getting it towed when something unexpected happens, but the primary issue is that it isn't reliable and the secondary issue is that all the little things (lack of AC, perpetual heat, broken door handles, etc.) get really friggin' tedious. Again, it's all a mater of perspective. If you're broke, then you deal with these things. I went down that road with my Ford Probe back when I was in college. That thing was a nightmare, but I was poor and I was going to drive that thing until it exploded if I had to. I don't think anyone wants to have an unreliable vehicle though, nor do I think anyone wants to drive around in 90F weather with the heat on, especially if you're hauling around your family, need it for work, etc.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying more money means a better vehicle. I'm just saying that throwing good money after bad on a vehicle is usually a poor decision unless it's your only option.

why dont u just lower it...????

Who the hell would lower a truck  lol... Then I'd just get a car...... haha... Just joking... kind of.....

Anyway the new truck is as big as my Expedition... 285/65/20's and a 2.5 inch lift... For some reason it doesn't seem as big...The running boards are closer to the ground, and rear doors are huge...Easier to get the car seat in and out of anyway, and double the MPG's... I'm happy with it....

lol. I've got to agree with you there. I've already had the backup camera give me "Wtf are you doing?!" level of beeping just from backing up due to the steepness of the embankment I was coming down. If I was lowered, I would have bottomed it out or flat out hit the ground more than once. Perhaps if you stick to city streets and live in a relatively flat area you can get away with it, but not where I live, work, and play.
