My wife just got me the new Nano 8GB and I want to use it in my Expedition. Has factory radio.

I bought a FM transmitter and it works good but there is some static. Was thinkin of hard wiring it to my radio or is their a plug in the back of the radio.

Any help would be much appericated.:)

You know, we bought this cheap, tape adapter and it works great. Was about $10.

It's the tape shaped cartridge with a wire coming out one side and the wire is a plug for the Ipod.

Otherwise, you can spend a lot of money getting an adapter installed.

We have that for my wifes Grand Cherokee, and works GREAT. My headunit is the 6 in-dash CD changer.

jlw0211 there is actually a place where you can wire the IPod behind the radio. The place I get my stuff done recommends using the auxilory port. If you don't have a DVD player in your truck then it would work fine if you do then you would need to spend a few extra dollars for a different type of harness.

thanks...I do have a DVD in my truck but it is aftermarket so I think I should still be able to use that port. Thanks again.

You need to check pie.com for the X3 model (if you have an 2003 expi) There are specific adapters for each year and also if you have RSE (rear seat entertainment system/DVD) The X3 adapter has will let you keep all the controls, front and rear working. It also will let you plug in THREE that's "3" other sources, 1 could be an ipod 2nd could bea satellite radio 3rd could be another device like a mp3 player. Then all you have to do is press a button on the selector to to get which ever source music you want.

I already have a XM radio hooked up to my radio by using the FM modulator and works flawlessly. My RES is aftermarket and also uses a FM modulator and works great when it is used.
They are set on different FM stations and have them programmed on the radio presets.
