Lift Gate Cycle Interrupted When Starting Engine

Hi All,

I have a 2011 XLT now with 202k miles. One thing that bugs me is the lift gate closure cycle gets interrupted if I start the engine before it is fully closed and latched. The engine start interrupts the process and the lift gate returns to the fully opened position. Is there a way to override this? I realize it is a minor annoyance but it would be nice to do.

My 2012 does the same thing. No way that I know of to override it...
