My first vehicle I purchased back in June 2016- A 1998 Expy Eddie Bauer 5.4l, 3 inch body lift with 164,000 miles. $1400. Oh man, what a journey I've been on with her. Named her Drillbit the first day I bought her due to the solenoid of the passenger lock going out making that great drill noise. First test drive: Needed an alignment BAD, 2 manifold bolts snapped, so that great ticking noise. Fresh oil, and new tires with an alignment. Up and running amazing!

Two months later, brakes up front completely go, replaced. Rear brakes also replaced. Fast forward to November our first big snow.. Well.. 4WD actuator replaced, no 4 High or Low. (Great to find out while spinning tires) Make a deal with a family friend mechanic, does my manifolds for free (still love him for that) Later on, cylinder two shoots plug out, replaced, cylinder 3 and 7 misfire, fixed. Cylinder 4 not firing at all from carbon build up, fixed. All plugs now new, 4 new boots. New headlights, foglights and taillights. Cats fail, replaced them and straight piped out the passenger side dually style. (Nice and loud after 3K RPM).

Currently sitting on a chrome Westin Bull Bar used, $50 small dent no rust, just waiting on installation kit, pushing 174k miles. Some pictures of her evolving with this post. Planning on new tires and maybe rims for the new year. When it warms up a bit, I'll fix the P0171 P0173 code. I know I'm leaving some information out, but feel free to show me your First Gens :) 20160607_153019.jpg 20170216_152040.jpg 20170721_133535.jpg 20171030_161316.jpg 20171030_161350.jpg

1955moose- family friend was selling it for $2100, he gave me a deal since it was my first vehicle. He still feels bad for all the bad things that happened! LOL

It's a nice looking truck. The $1400 you paid makes it easier to fund the repairs. How much have you invested? It will be worth it in the long run.
