What I took from the article was to always use what the car engineers\manufacture use on their vehicles. In other words, what the dealer installs! :)

Option 1. Use Ford (Motorcraft) filters
For my 2003 Expedition EB it uses Motorcraft FL820-S Oil filter found very economical at Wal-Mart.

Option 2. Use a premium after market product if option 1 is not available. Simple!

I use either mobil 1 or K&N. Advance always have their synthetic oil on sale every month or so. 5 qts. and a filter for like $30.

They seem to package them like, mobil 1 oil and filter. Or, Castrol with K&N.

I'm still debating on what oil to use.The walmart super tech is priced right but I think I'm going to use the motorcraft blend.
