What I took from the article was to always use what the car engineers\manufacture use on their vehicles. In other words, what the dealer installs!

Option 1. Use Ford (Motorcraft) filters
For my 2003 Expedition EB it uses Motorcraft FL820-S Oil filter found very economical at Wal-Mart.

Option 2. Use a premium after market product if option 1 is not available. Simple!

I use either mobil 1 or K&N. Advance always have their synthetic oil on sale every month or so. 5 qts. and a filter for like $30.

They seem to package them like, mobil 1 oil and filter. Or, Castrol with K&N.

I'm still debating on what oil to use.The walmart super tech is priced right but I think I'm going to use the motorcraft blend.
