Stock Navigation/ES reset?

Is there a way to reset the stock Navigation/Ent Sys? Checked manual and didn't find anything.

Situation: Old Navigation DVD stopped working right around end of the year. Have a new DVD (latest 10P map) and after initially installing/working it has stopped. Keep getting the message that the DVD isn't recognized. Spoke to Naviteq and the lady said there sounds like a 'system' reset is needed.

Checked with dealer, he states that 07 system can't be reset. Just bring in and they may have to replace the whole unit. Thinking about disconnecting the battery cables for a short while to force a 'reset'. Any thoughts?
