Just a reminder for those of us with direct injected twin turbo charged engines with variable cam timing that the "simpler" v8s have issues too. A friend just got the repair estimate for his one owner 2013 Escalade with a 6.2v8 (98,*** miles) that developed a valve-train tap. $5,800 to replace the cam, all 16 lifters, and extract 3 broken exhaust manifold studs from the heads. The lifter that collapsed and damaged the cam is one of the 8 AFM (Active Fuel Management) lifters that allows it to run in 4cylinder mode to save fuel. He also called another dealer to verify he had an honest repair price and it was within a few hundred dollars.
