Been cruising the forum since joining and also looking around at some used Expeditions on the net.
I've come across some where the owners claim there is timing chain guide wear or noise (I've not seen the vehicles in person). So, I came on here and read some threads about the repair and also have viewed the Ford repair video just to get some further knowledge about the R&R processes involved.
Based on what I have read so far, I've not been able to determine, but, is this a common problem? Is it more prevalent on the 5.4, the 4.6 or both?
Is the guide wear or failure due to poor maintenance or incorrect oil weight being used or??
How long can the truck be driven with such guide wear or noise?
Thanks for any further info (or point me to a link for review if possible).
