Transfer case question

I tried out my 4wd recently and fouund out the front axle is engaging but the transfer case is not. The 4wd light comes on and stays lit when I switch it to 4wd. I think its just the shift motor and have a good extra shift motor to swap in. But before I go crawling under I thought I should ask the question. Thanks guys!

When my tc shift motor went out, mine would shift only in 4AWD. No 4H or 4L. No clicks in the dash.
