Just thought I would add to this...

Transmission code 'B' is for a 4R75E I had a hard time finding this as the typically Ford decoder does show transmission type. Also for what it's worth my Expedition has the selectable 2H, A4WD, 4H, and 4L.

EDIT: This is only for 03-05 Expeditions. In 06 for some reason they switched the trans code to 'Q' for the 4R75E.

Ok, so going by those instructions, just dropping the pan is roughly 5 qts?

I think I also read that if there is Mercron 3 or 4, I can add 5, but if it's already got Mercron 5, I can't add 3 or 4? Since I don't know whats in it, I guess the safest bet is to just use Mercron 5?

Is it better to lift the front or rear of the Exped. for proper draining?

Thought I would comment on this...

When searching for filters it seems, according to the guides, that it's pretty cut and dry...

2 wheel drive = 4R100
4 wheel drive = 4R70W/4R75W

I guess the guides could be wrong, but the filters look pretty different.

I have a 4X4 with the E code that is supposed to be the 4R100

4r100 is behind the 5.4, 4r70w/75w is behind the 4.6(in most cases)
