Trip Meter Resets

Any idea why my trip meter has started resetting to 0.0 on startup? The battery still starts the vehicle but I can tell it is laboring and probably won't make the summer; could the drain at startup cause the reset? The total mileage meter is operating properly and if I leave it set there, the trip meter does not reset; only when in the trip mode. Weird!

are the needles for rpm and mph doing a sweep(on startup)?if so get a new battery real soon . on startup the batt is dropping below 8 volts thus everything is doing a reset

When the battery is disconnected on mine, the tripmeter will switch to the odometer and display 0 when switched back to it.

You could take it to Advanced/Auto zone, and have them do a battery test for free.

I suspected the battery was the culprit and replaced it this past weekend; problem solved.
