I think I remember reading somewhere that a 16" rim will rub some part of the brake components on 03+ expeditions and that's why the 03 came with 17" stock wheels. Is this true? On a related topic, I know 33" tires will rub on a stock 03 2WD, but I should be able to fit 33's without a lift on the back right?

not sure about 03+ but my 01 came stock with 17's and i had 16's on there with no problems. 15's will get you in trouble though. as for tires, if you arent going to run 33's on the front, why would you run them on the rear?

I think at some year the brakes got bigger and will rub with 16" rims, but maybe not. They would just be for snow and offroading with 2WD.
