Some here have been successful and others like my self have not. I tried to wire up for Power folding mirrors on my 2011 XLT and could not get them to work. However, I must say that unlike others who have had success I would not cut up my existing wiring harness. These trucks are very complicated from a wiring standpoint and if you do not know what you are doing you can cause yourself problems.

That being said, If you feel you have the knowledge and ability, there are many threads on this site as well as other Ford truck sites showing how some made the changes to their truck. Good Luck.

Did you open the door panels to see if the wiring is there. Sometimes Manufacturers will pre-wire some base models. That would help a lot if it was pre-wired. Then you wouldnt have to fish wires all over the place.

I have electrical diagrams if you need some.

Just finished installing Power folding mirrors in my 07 Ford Expedition. This installation required some wire cutting :frown:
The hardest, tedious part of this install was fishing wires through the door jamb boots, what a PITA !

Parts Used:
- Koolvue Powerfold Mirrors P/N: LN15CR-S-PLK (Got the pair from JCWhitney.com for under $300 shipped; Always check online for coupon codes)
- Powerfold Mirror Switch P/N: Motorcraft 7L1Z-17B676-AA or Dorman 901-342
- Powerfold Relay P/N: 8C3Z-14N089-A (cheapest one I found, Ebay item number: 321544244172 for $62.25)
- 5-Pin 5-wire relay harness socket
- Electrical Wire (14-20 AWG)

First thing I had to do was to confirm the factory wires for power folding were not present at the DSM (Driver Seat Module). If they are there this could very possibly mean that your DSM is already equipped with the power folding feature, and all that's needed are the mirrors and the switch. At any rate, I checked my DSM for the following:

- Connector C341C (Brown)

- Pin# 2 - Right Mirror Fold in (Brown)
- Pin# 18 - Mirror Switch - Fold/Unfold Signal (Gray/Brown)

- Connector C341D (Gray)

- Pin# 3 - Left Mirror Fold in (Violet/Brown)
- Pin# 11 - Left Mirror Fold Out (Green/Violet)
- Pin# 12 - Right Mirror Fould Out (White/Orange)

Check both mirror connectors for pin# 7 & 16:
- Driver Side:
Pin 7 - "Fold In" wire (Violet/ Brown)
Pin 16 - "Fold out" wire (Green/Violet)
- Passenger Side:
Pin 7 - "Fold In" wire (Brown)
Pin 16 - "Fold out" wire (White/Orange)

I cut these wires, added butt connectors on the end closer to the mirror connector.
Ran 2 wires for pins 7 & 16 (From RH mirror connector, through the psngr side door jamb boot, behind the glove box, through the Radio/AC controls area, under steering column wiring, through the driver door jamb boot, out to the LH door mirror connector)

I Installed the relay behind the dash, under the steering wheel column area.
- Pin 1 - Chassis Ground
- Pin 2 - Connect to Fold-In Wire you just ran behind the dash.
- Pin 3 - 12V Constant or ACC. Dealer's choice !
I went with constant 12V , that way I can still fold in/out even with ignition off. I spliced directly from Ignition wire (BU-RD) Blue/Red. There are 2 of them, either one will do.
- Pin 4 - Connect to Mirror Switch Pin#4
That wire should be Gray/brown at the switch, not to be confused with pin#5 which is also gray/brown. To be certain you have the right wire, the wire directly next to pin#4 will be black or black/violet
- Pin 5 - Connect to Fold-Out Wire you just ran behind the dash.

At the mirror switch connector, as mentioned above, you're looking for a gray/brown wire that's preceded by a black or black/violet. I cut that wire too and added butt connectors to link them together.

Although I verified that the wires for power folding mirrors were not there at the DSM, I still cut the #7 & #16 wires at the mirror connectors and the #4 wire at the switch just in case. These systems with the seat, pedal & mirror memory can be sensitive in the way they communicate, so I cut them to eliminate all doubts.

I have the pictures from the Install on my phone, I'll post a couple of 'em and try to come up with a diagram too.

Hope this helps someone else trying to do the same.

Just ordered my relay! Found out from my dealer that he can't enable mine in the GEM, and swapping it out is a PITA since its part of the smart junction box in the passenger kick panel. Guess I have a project for the holiday weekend!

UPDATE: I just finished this project, and they work like a champ! Now it's equipped the way it should have been from the factory!

Just one update to the wiring diagram: both the driver and passenger sides are wired the same on my 2012: violet/brown for fold in, green/violet for fold out. I don't know when Ford changed this, but wanted to pass it along.

Thanks again for the write up!

My Pleasure !

Thanks for the update on the wire colors. That always helps remove doubt for those hesitant to do electrical modifications to their vehicles.
