My center console has a hole drilled in it about the size of a power port on the forward wall on the passenger side. Just wondering if was a power port that the factory put there, or someone else did and subsequently removed it.

Thanks.

There are 3 power ports in the truck. Front one is by the front passenger's left leg on the center console. The second row one is on the back side of the center console, left of the rear radio and climate controls. The third one is on the passenger rear quarter panel, accessible when you raise the lift gate.

There is also the cigarette lighter in the pop out compartment of the center console, although you're technically not supposed to use that to power devices.

To get to the front plug, remove the upper part of the center console. Right where the pop out ashtray/cig lighter, there is a rubber mat. Lift that, and there should be a 7mm (from memory) bolt. Take that out, open the center console lid, and lift up. I usually just grab around the cup holder area and pull up. Aside from the bolt, the upper center console is held in by clips.

They must have drilled that hole for another one then. Why not use the lighter one for a power port though? I do it all the time.

I mean, you technically can. It's just that it's on another fuse, which it shares with the OBDII port. If you blow it, you have no OBDII port communication. So, essentially, they size the fuse for the current draw of the lighter (since it's pretty constant) plus whatever the OBD port might draw.

I think it's what, a 10A fuse? So as long as it's something with relatively small draw (a phone charger), it should be fine.

I actually have a issue with mine, the cigaret lighter works, the one on the passenger side does not the one in the back seat does not. The one in the rear does work I have not tried to troubleshoot this yet where would be the best place to start?

I want to pop that Ashtray out of there so I can install a backup camera screen, I want to use the power supply for the ashtray light to power the screen, so there's no possible drain when its turned off, but I cannot see how to remove the ashtray assembly, to get at the wiring.
