Has anyone tried to remove the middle seat in the second row of the '03 Expedition. I had always wanted the captain chairs in the second row but could not pass up the deal on a new '03 EB in Black with a DVD for $34k.

yes, when i worked at a dealership, i took the seats out of the 2nd rw to fix a noise in the floor. The outer seat brackets may overlap the center, but you can undo all of them, remove the middle and then fasten the outsides back down.

The outer seats are different than the captains chairs though. No armrests.

Well I went ahead and did it last night. It looks good but now I need some floormats for it. Does anyone know where I can get some floormats for the third row and the middle of the second?

I got some floor mats from

www.AutoAnything.com

But are you trying to find floor mats to cover the area left behind by the chairs?

I've been curious about removing one of the middle row seats just to give easier access to the rear seats. Then the truck would have that Minivan feel inside.

thanks Keydo. Yes I need some larger floormats for where the seat once was. It is much easier and with a family of only 4 it makes it easier for access to the backseat when I get back there and watch the dvd with the kids on trips... <GRIN>

I will try autoanything. Which ones did you get?

I went with the Catch-All Floor Mats.

http://www.autoanything.com/floormat/catchall/product.asp?SessionID=340324254INDATNNYFXN&prID=56

It color matched the interior quite well, carpeted, but rubber lining underneath, so if anything spills, it won't leak.

I got front, middle, rear and trunk.

I suggest getting an outdoor use Scotch Guard and spray the mats down first before installing. For that matter, you may want to spray down your carpetted area in the truck as well.

I like the Catch-All trunk mat that holds onto the back 3rd row seats when upright. But when you fold them down, you lose about 7 inches of covered trunk. Not bad.
