My bonehead son seems to have bent the running boards on my 2017

He was going to wash it, and wanted the running boards to stay out. Not being aware that it can be configured to do that from the left menu, he stood on them after he closed the door and forced them to stay out. Now they seem to be tilted down about 10 degrees in the down position, although they do fold up all the way.

Does anyone know if this is an adjustment, or if he actually bent them?

Have you tried applying upward pressure to set them back up to full close?

Wow....sometimes we as parents just have to ask....why?

I'll bet that he had damaged the gearing and/or the levers that rotate them to the up position and once bent, they're broke.

Sorry to hear brother....my guess is that's going to be an expensive fix.

I just select "deployed" on the left side display, lube with motorcycle chain lube then wash(keeps the water out) and then select "auto" as I'm finishing up so I can wash the outside of them.

Have him do a full detail once per week until 2027 and you can call it even.

You think the truck would survive 520 sessions of THAT???

Have mercy, it's marketed as light/medium duty.... not a riot control armored vehicle

Valid point. Maybe have him pay to have someone else detail it. :D

Sounds like a planetary alignment for you. Stay away from Las Vegas or your local lotto. Just when you get used to your planets being aligned, they move on and become out of alignment. So it goes...

If its under warranty take it to the dealer. Problem solved. Oh and give your kid a good smack upside the head

Doubt that would work once they see bent metal of broken gears and does anyone want to be accused of lying in the middle of a dealership?...besides, it's wrong...to me anyway, life is too short to look at a liar in the mirror every morning. It's not that hard to do things the right way and it's contagious too!

warranty does not cover abuse.

if the dealer wants to fix it as a goodwill gesture that's great but don't expect Ford to pay for it

You live your life the way you want and I'll live mine the way I want. When I look in the mirror I don't see a liar looking back. But at the same time I dont have a bent running board I need to go see the dealer about. Hard to believe you've lived your life having never told a lie. And if you say you have then you're just lying ;)
