So my wife’s truck was rear ended, and it is in the shop being repaired..
We have a ’17 Base XLT Expedition as a rental..
And she is digging the Interior Volume and size of the truck..
So now considering purchasing a 2015-2017 Expedition..
Been reading around the forums a bit..
Few Questions I can’t seem to find answers to, was hoping would be right off the top of the head for the veterans around here..
1) Any significant differences between the ’15, ’16 or ’17 models?
2) If I were to pick up an XLT, can an 8” SYNC3 unit be swapped in relatively easily to replace the standard little display?
3) Is there an options combination that gets you leather heated cooled seats/Sync 3 and keeps the base models’ two dial main instrument cluster?
4) What is the realistic MPG? Trip computer seems to be overly optimistic initially, showing 18-20 mpg around town, but as the fuel gauge drops, the MPG calculation falls off to the 15 mpg range eventually, even though driving is remaining essentially the same..
5) How much better are the Limited’s projector headlamps, cause the XLTs reflector headlamps suck, surprised to see the Limited doesn’t have HIDs either..
6) I know the core design hasn’t really changed since 2007, seems to be some conflicting information about whether roof strength was increased and if so beginning what model year?
7) Does the upgraded ‘Sony’ sound system sound any good? Again, the stock XLT System sucks..
8) Any special areas of concerns to look for when looking for a used Expedition? Do they tend to eat thought brakes, or bushings? Any issues to look out for with the ecoboost engine?
Anything else relevant any of the veterans want to add, my ears (and eyes) are open at this point. Trying to figure out if buying one of these beasts makes sense for us, thanks..
P.S - Yes, I have read though the what to look for Sticky as well..
