Just picked up a used 2017 Platinum .Black exterior with Brunello leather interior. 36000 mile CPO.
Hoping it is as reliable as our 2004 Eddie Bauer that is still going strong at 180,000.

Yes. 36,000. The Ford dealer cpo'ed it. Hoping it behaves like our 04 Eddie.
Must say, I really wanted a King Range but nothing used available in my area. The Platinum will have to do.

well i dont even look at another vehicle, our 16 fit all the NEEDS and we really like it
best thing they did was putting the eco boost in it. we had a 13 f150 with the eco and it was a killer little truck.

If you have CCD suspension that is probably the nicest Expedition you can get -- even nicer than the King Ranch IMO. I really like the Brunello leather.

One thing to keep in mind: The "Agate Tuxedo Stripe" design on the seats does not wear well at all. In particular, the driver's side outboard bottom edge gets scuffed up from sliding your rear end against the seat as you exit. Thus, it's very important not to do this as it will quickly ruin the driver's seat bottom cover. I've seen several Platinums with less than 50K miles where the seat bottom leather was a real mess.

I've found that if you rotate yourself to the left, then put your feet on the running boards, stand up, and then step down, it helps to prevent scuffing the leather seat bottom. Same goes for the front passenger seat, so warn your passengers not to slide off the seat when they exit.

How come some folks here seem to prefer the King Ranch over the Platinum model? I haven't compared models since buying She's 2013.

I don't know. The Platinum is top-of-the-line and basically comes with everything standard. It's one level *above* the King Ranch. In the past, however, the KR was considered the top-end model over the Limited. The KR has special "real" leather seating (i.e. aniline leather as opposed to "finished" leather like nearly every other vehicle out there) but this requires more upkeep. It also has unique wheels and a 2-tone exterior paint scheme. Other than that, both models are pretty similar overall.

I prefer the King Ranch. The platinum pretty much looks like any other expy in and out but the KR stands out. Ford pushes their in house trim packages now because it is cheaper for them and less licensing involved. They used to have a lot of cool unique trims and editions (Eddie Bauer, King Ranch, Iron Man, Funk Master Flex etc...). My point being the KR is unique, the platinum not so much. Don’t get me wrong the platinum is a very nice truck.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses.
Star Art; thanks for the warning. Checked my seats and they're fine. I'll take the recommended precautions.
FordExpyLvr: I was looking at a 17 XLT in Bronze Fire with the same package and interior. The deal on the Platinum was too good to pass up .
cekkk/star art: I just love the paint, leather, and trim appointments in the KR. I'm super happy with my Platinum. Leather is absolutely gorgeous.
I was really trying to find one with the limited slip 373 diff. Hard to find!

I had a 2013 Limited and now a 2017 Limited. It has all what we need. Love the Expedition.

I just picked up a 17 Expedition Limited, I wanted a platinum badly but this Limited is nice and only Had 16,800km that's approximately 10,00 miles for Americans.

Down here in Louisiana the winters are not that bad for the need of the heated steering wheel but the a/c and heated seats in my 2017 Limited is nice....

I wish I had a cooled steering wheel this summer. My black 2003 Expy gets so hot I almost have to wear gloves to get in and drive in the middle of a sunny day

BMoe,
Congrats on the Limited. I would have purchased one if the deal was right. Did you get the COP on it?

You can add the heated steering wheel to your Expy...do a search on this forum to find the thread

Two-tone paint is a matter of taste (I understand some guys prefer light beer). Both my Expeditions have been black monochromatic XLT models. The '07 was special ordered in this "color" (my daughter insists black is not a color) and the '17 was purchased off the lot. The '07 was pretty basic, the '17 has just about every option available other than 2d row bucket seats which I did not want. The '17 build sheet lists the color as "absolute black." I have a love-hate relationship with leather seating. Heated/cooled seats has moved the pendulum over to the love side.

Chuck,
As for beer I love double IPAs.
I've always liked the two tone look on Expeditions and F series trucks. I do like the black mono look too.
I really like leather, especially the color on mine and the color on the older King Ranches.
