Hello,

I was wondering if the front seats from an F-150 would fit a 2014 Expedition SSV and if so, from what years? I'm thinking of calling a bunch of scrap yards in my area and asking if they have leather seats from an F150 (most common) or an Expedition (probably not, lol), but would need to know which ones are a direct bolt on, right down to the floor bracket. Mine have the side airbags in them and the driver's seat is electric, by the way.

At first I was thinking of putting some leather-like seat covers on them, but all the covers on Amazon appear to be Chinese junk of a "one size fits most cars" type. Even the product pictures don't look decent, so imagine them in real life, lol. Reviewers also seem to complain of the typical Chinese plastic-o-death smell...

Thanks in advance!

Ebay and sometimes craigslist

Full sets of either leather or quality leatherette pop up ~$300 semi-regularly, apparently stuff from customer cancelled orders or something

Real replacement skins that use hog rings to mount

Despite whatever the internet says, 2007-2017 Expedition (short and EL) and 2007-2017 Navigator/Navigator L will fit THE SEAT PARTS

The one difference is head rests, 07-08 uses a different front headrest design. But you can find those on ebay/junkyard too

Been there done the whole song and dance... got an '09 SSV, installed crappy '07 Eddie "leather" (90+% nasty vinyl, really), messed with wiring nightmare... got disappointed, replaced the Eddie skins with aftermarket leather (stickers said for a different year EL) I found on CL

F-150 seats will not fit as far as I know. Eddie Bauer and Limited Expeditions have leather trimmed 1st and 2nd rows with vinyl 3rd rows. King Ranch has chaparral leather 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rows. XLT is all just vinyl.

Some Eddie Bauer units will have optional heated/cooled seats (perforated leather inserts vs standard leather) and Limited/ KR will have them since it was standard. The climate control functions won’t work on the seats obviously.

Awesome, thanks for the replies! Looks like it will have to be Expedition seats, then... I don't really mind different headrests. :)

Adieu, where does one get "aftermarket leather" for the seats?

One more question: are all 2007-2017 Expedition seats equipped with side airbags and do they have the same electric plugs?

No

There's literally ~6 different electrical plugs per model year, with some variation between model years

Nee seats WILL have to be hotwired. Memory and such will have to be wired around to connect motors to switches to power.... it's a hassle

Leather comes from ebay or craigslist. Supposedly Katzkin, maybe a competitor...
Who the hell knows.

Here's a midrow middle that I never got around to installing

Some of the others had bigger tags but no company info that I recall

I know it's steep, but The Seat Shop makes real OEM leather or leather/vinyl covers for the truck. They're the real deal, excellent and a perfect match to factory stuff. American made and they install with hog rings like originals. A full front set will cost $800, but they'll probably give you a discount...

Hard to find used ones that aren't half shot.

The cheap kits on ebay are generally UNused

Seems the usual story is cancelled or erroneous custom orders made by upholstery shops, or maybe stuff factory made or shops stocked in anticipation for sales that never materialized

There's none for Expedition today, but I've seen more than a few before... here are some typical examples of other vehicles kits and the usual blowout pricing

Screenshot_2019-09-03-05-25-11.png Screenshot_2019-09-03-05-26-15.png

3row vehicles typically go for 300ish (total) though

Fronts-only for 800 is silly unless you're going full custom order to get something specific and unique fabricated... if you just want "better and in a tolerable color", sit back and wait a couple weeks till something pops up

That's cheap as dirt! Are those real OEM-type covers that go on with hog rings? Or are they some slip on things with rubber bands and no backs?

Real

Can't vouch they're genuinely from the supplier the seller lists since I'm unaffiliated with either of em, but those are most certainly the hog ring OEM replacement type kits pictured

PS also, in the case of my own -- seller claimed the wife vetoed em after he already signed for the order, so he got stuck with taking delivery anyway... clips and mounting points and stitching and stuff all matched up and the factory tags listed the correct Katzkin custom color by name, so they were prolly genuine. Quality was superior to Ford, shape was correctly tailored, and laid out flat they looked just like what all those guys on ebay are selling, so...

Thanks for the replies! Do you need to take off the existing cloth seat material to install this leather or does it slip over the cloth?

Also, is the leather skin airbag compatible?

I've literally never heard of this before. Cool stuff, though!

Cloth must come off. Leather has the SRS tags and is tailored around the in-seat airbag design

Except for the headrests, cloth will come off intact

Hogrings mount to these wooden skewer thingies and metal coat hanger wire embeded inside the seat material, then the clips stretch onto the frame

Same as factory

Wow, that sounds great, thanks for posting! I will order some cheap covers for now and keep my eyes peeled for that leather.

I hope they ship to Kanukistan... ;)

I changed out the driver seat in a 2004.. even being careful the wiring harness was different, even in same generation. I think my problem was 2003 v. 2004. So try car-parts.com. Or coverkings.

Katzkin is what the dealers have installed if they have a car with cloth seats (new or used) and you want leather. Very high quality! The only "problem" is they only sell to installers. They typically run around $800 for the front seats. Not too bad for installed. You can get the same type covers to install yourself from Shear Comfort (https://www.shearcomfort.com/) for $500 a row. Limited colors in real leather (black, beige, or grey), but they have other options that are cheaper as well, imitation leather is $261-$328 a row.

I was going to mention LeBaron Bonney, but looks like they filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March of this year.
