Help with Driver seat trim

Good morning,

I have broken the plastic trim that goes around the drivers seat of my wife's Expedition. I found Ford Part # 7L1Z-14A707-AB on fordpartsgiant.com but I am not sure it is the correct one for my vehicle. The part description says cloth seats, camel trim, less temperature control drivers seat, with bucket seats. My seat is leather and does have the heated and cooled seats. Most of the trim pieces on the site are discontinued or the wrong color.

I am relatively new to working on vehicles myself, and I wanted to try and get this done without taking it to the dealer.

So two questions, is that the right part and is that the best place the get said part?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try a PNP (pick and pull) lot in your area. Might try lkq.com

That's just a busted clip right? Make a hole add a screw or ziptie or two

Had the exact same issue on my 2009. As Adieu suggested, I drilled a hole in the clip area and zip tied it on. Been working great since January.

I'd like a permanent (at least semi) professional fix for that too.
Broke that in my 2014EL a couple years ago and did a temp fix.
I forgot I even did that (never notice it) until this thread.

I used GORILLA TAPE and it works "ok" I guess as a temp fix.
Problem with those temp fix's is pretty soon they're permanent


I'm pretty sure if I replaced the part I would just break it again
sliding my 250 pounds out to the curb in a slovenly and 1/2 crippled old man manner.

I might work on this today, this video will help.

Am on my third on on my 2016 expedition, just bad engineering, a screw at the back end would solve the issue. roughly $30.00. very easy to replace

Where can you buy for $30? I was see'ing $50 to $120.
The way I roll, I'd break the new one just like the old one.
Wanted more durability.

Did an upgrade just now.
I used that fiberglass tape that doesnt break or stretch and is sticky.
Rock solid, much stronger than the original or my first cob job.
I know it isnt that pretty .. neither am I so it's a match!



... as usual , a zero cost repair using parts laying around thats stronger than original

I think you have a worse problem then just that cover piece you identified. It looks to me like the plastic "frame" is also broken. Where the arrow is pointing. If it was me, I'd pull that cover trim off and repair that "frame" first. I could be wrong, just going by your photo.

I have the same issue with a 2006 Navigator. The observation was people exiting the rear often toe kick the front seat shield and break off the rear attachment support post (plastic).
The seat shield can be had for about 34US plus shipping. Or... one could get creative knowing what causes the failure to occur.
Im considering installing a post on the seat pedestal, topped with velcro and attaching velcro to the inside of the seat shield. That way if it were to get knocked off again, all i need do is simply reattach it.
