Michelin Premier LTX DT vs Defender LTX M/S

I have a 2019 Max Platinum and bought tires 2 weeks ago. I wanted the Defenders but searched high and low and swear that they only had the 110h weight rating in 285/45/r22. Is the 114h new?

That aside, after reading tons of reviews wound up buying the Pirelli Verde All Season Plus II. I think I need to take them back and have them rebalanced because they seem to ride a little rough above 60mph, but otherwise great so far especially in the rain we have been having in GA

I have used the Defender LTX M/S on my last 2 vehicles and loved them. When the day comes to get new tires on my Navigator I plan to use them again.

My Discount Tire guy said that these Defenders are a recently re-released version. Could be possible the 114H is a new spec.

Yes, 3 weeks ago when I was researching Michelin Defender LTX M/S Tires in 285/45 R22 114H XL, Discount Tire only had the 110 weight rating, and their website said this does not match your vehicle.
Now, they have the 114 rating as an OE fit.

Just spoke with the Discount Tire sales rep. The Defender LTX in the 22" 114H XL rating is in pre-release and is not in stores yet. He is going to check with Michelin when they will be available and get back to me.

If you want tougher rubber than the Michelins which wear fast in my hot summers look at the BFG Advantage Sports tougher rubber compound likely not as good in snow / ice but they were decent on my Sequoia in big snow. No question thats my next tire on my 22’s for the Exp..

BFG and Michelin come off the same assembly line. Would not surprise me if various tires share the same husks. Just get different tread and rubber compounds

Michelin Premier LTX is what I ended up with on our 18 Limited. Very, very happy with these tires. Night and day difference from the OE Hankooks. Originally went to Costco to have the Defender installed but they wouldn't Put them on since they didn't meet the 114 extra load range.

I've had both the Premier and the Defender in 275/55-20 size on my 2011 King Ranch EL. It depends what you want. The Premier is a "performance" tire that may give extra wet traction, but I only got 35,000 miles out of my rears before they were seriously short on tread. The steers lasted to maybe 50,000. The Premier doesn't have a tread life warranty if I remember correctly. I drive very light on the pedal and fuel average is currently showing 17.7 which I think is quite acceptable concerning vehicle size. A stickier tire simply does not have the same life as a distance tire. I am currently running Defenders, which came with a 70,000 tread life warranty. I cannot tell much difference in the drive or acoustics. Under extreme performance tests, the Premiers might do better.

I’ve had the Defender LTX M/S on mine for the last 30K miles. Good tire. It doesn’t look aggressive in the slightest and is more of a light truck highway tire to me.

I vote for the Defender LTX M/S...I run them on most of my vehicles.
