looks good! always a good look when someone decides to be smart and use a smaller rim and larger tires. just can't stand the look of 20" rims unless you have a substantial lift and meaty tires. gotta keep the meat on tires!
Absolutely... You need sidewall if you want to call it a truck. I am always amazed to see people put Mud tire on a 22 inch wheel with thin sidewalls. These people do it for the look not for real tough work. I use mine for hunting and fishing in the Quebec logging road. Some of those are no longer maintained and heavily damaged. I do air down so I need the flange. I ditched the 20 inch my truck cam with and went with these 18 inch, I wish I would have gone to 17 inch too but tire choice was getting difficult and I was under the impression that 305 would have rubbed. I stand corrected.

Update… Raptor takeoffs + Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 305-70-17s the full size spare fits, kinda… seems to affect the already bad departure angle
For Departure angle, a tow hitch tire carrier could be an option?

I thought about putting 20” all terrains on it until I found the raptor wheels. So glad I didn’t, the 20s had sand inside the bead from last time is was fooling around on the beach…

I thought about that, but I’m not sure if disabling the tailgate is worth the departure angle. What I’d really like to do is build a rear bumper with a swing out spare tire carrier like the old broncos had, but that would be really stretching my fabrication skills

Shoot! I just saw your link. I didn’t realize it swings! That’s pretty cool!

The 305/70/17s rub just a bit, I think if I pull the inner fender well forward just a bit (zip tie) they won’t rub at all. I’ve run 35x12.5x17 they rub on the inner fender well and on the frame at lock, but not enough to cause any major issues. The only reason I didn’t go with that size is because they don’t fit in the spot for the spare. The other issue with 17” wheels on these trucks is that the wheels are very close to the brake calipers. If the tire guy puts stick on weights inside the wheels they may interfere.

Yes it does swing out of the way. there are many models of hitch tire carrier out there and you can attach fuel pax or equipment like Hi-jack to it has they are rated 250 Lbs capacity and a wheel is usually around 50 lbs. If yo do a lot of offroad, the fact of having the tire right in the back is also an adantage since it is not always easy to reach under the truck.

Glad to hear it, so far mine are good on the road, looking forward to getting them on the trail and really test them
Mine were tested on a 160km dirt road fishing trip. The first 120km was a nice gravel road, I was running 110 km/h while everybody else had issue reaching 85 km/h with their smaller SUV. the last 40 KM was much rougher with max speed of 30 to 35 km/hrs and they were gripping very well. I have to say that the expedition is also a much better off roader then people give it credit for. the rear independent suspension makes all the difference. it really does not have the bumping rolling motion of a pick-up truck.

I finally broke down and got the Icon 2.5 front suspension with remote adjustable reservoir with and tubular UCAs. Still waiting on the rear set which is back ordered for a few weeks.
Kinda regretting not getting smaller wheels with the new tires (275/60/20), but it just wasn't in the budget at the time.
As you can tell the bag end looks saggy now compared to teh front end. Cant wait to get the rear suspension in there.
Also need to find a decent front bumper for a winch.....
