So the time has come where I can't justify spending the gas to keep this truck on the road. I'm sorry to say that after 6 years with the truck, I'm trading it in for a GMC Terrain.
Just want to say thanks to all the members on this forum. You have been a big help over the years with your...
Same problem here on an '03. Also had the motor replaced a while back by the dealer. Worked for a while, then came back. Only when cold. Today it stopped 3/4 of the way up. I had to play with it a bit to get it up and even then I doubt it is completely sealed.
Would really like to find...
Hey, so my '03 is having some problems with the rear defroster. Everything is good up to the window grid. A while back I had one of the tabs fall off. I went to advanced auto and got the repair kit and fixed it for a while.
It recently stopped working again. I have voltage to the tab, but...
the '03 with the 4.6 has two different spec'd part#s for the IAC. I had the same problem that you did. Got one from carquest and it did exactly what you say. Returned that one and got one from Napa and it worked like a charm. It's possible you're replacing with the wrong part# IAC. Call the...
Update:
Disconnected battery for a good 5-6 hours last week. Driven close to 200 miles and problem remains. Seemed to get better at first, but now is back to the way it was, with both the high idle and the humming.
Called CarQuest today to see if I could exchange the IAC and they said yes...
OK, quick update. I disconnected the battery for about 5 hours. Driving the 15 miles home, it seems to be a bit better, but I'm not sure. I'll drive it more this weekend and see how it does.
The humming sound is still there. I've narrowed it down and it's a resonance in the air intake...

Ok, I'll give this a shot. I hadn't tried this because I thought the computer was supposed to re-learn on the fly. All I do is disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes, right? How long should I leave it off?
Thanks.
Ok, a little back story:
It's a 2003 XLT w/ 4.6 & 124k on it.
I had a rough, surging idle to the point of stall on a few occasions. Truck ran fine while moving. I checked all the hoses, didn't find any leaks, and came to the IAC. Replaced it with one from CarQuest. Surging Idle went...

Nice. Thanks for the info. So where exactly is the condenser located? Behind the main grill, or down below?
Though, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to hit all the radiators with this stuff, would it?
