It is hard on the engine to not plug in during cold temps. I am in Alaxka and start plugging in at 20 above for a couple hours. Longer for colder temps.

The inline heaters are not very common anymore, many if not most engines can't use them due to improper cooling system components IE convection flow blockage. I had one in an 84 Toyota 22R engine, it worked so well the heater air was a little warm when started!
